We?re now only a few days away from Bellator 45. In the main event, the first-ever Bellator Light Heavyweight Champion will be crowned. The co-main event will also be an interesting match-up, as Patricio Freire takes on Daniel Straus in the finals of Bellator?s Season Four Lightweight Tournament. As is customary, here is my official [...]

LAS VEGAS - Demetrious Johnson continues to clash with bigger fighters in the bantamweight class and take them down with his non-stop approach. The 5-foot-3 Johnson made former WEC champ Miguel Torres his latest victim. Torres found himself on his back too often and lost a unanimous decision, 29-28 on all three cards.

Torres (39-4, 1-1 UFC) did a good job of moving and try to pick apart Johnson in the first, but became way too stationary in the final rounds.

Johnson (10-1, 2-0 UFC) scored multiple takedowns in the second and third. Torres worked for submissions, but more often than not MMA judges won't reward fighters for offense from the bottom. And the reality was, Johnson countered every Torres' move and stayed out of real trouble.

"It was a tough fight," Torres said. "He took me down and he just held me. I had a couple of submission attempts that gave me the chance to put him away. This was my fault tonight. He's slippery and he was able to get the takedowns. I just didn't take advantage when I should have."

Johnson said he thought the difference was controlling the pace and pushing forward in spite of what he thought was an injured leg.

"I thought I had a great game plan," Johnson said. "My goal was to kick his front leg, but at one point, he checked my kick and hit a soft spot (on my right leg). It really limited my mobility. My legs are my engine and he took that away from me. Fortunately, I was able to recover and secure good takedowns.

Torres, who raced out to a 37-1 start to his career, has now lost three of five. This was a costly loss for Torres, who was working toward a title shot or slot on a future "Ultimate Fighter" against the winner of the UFC 132's fight between Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber.

The 24-year-old Johnson has a bright future. Frankly, he should be fighting down at 125 pounds, but the UFC hasn't added the flyweight division yet. So for now, look out bantamweights and expect to go hard for at least 15 minutes against "Mighty Mouse."

Following the footsteps of previous TUF coaches Jens Pulver and B.J. Penn, recently announced team-heads Michael Bisping and Jason ?Mayhem? Miller will see action against each other at the Ultimate Fighter 14 Finale rather than wait for an unrelated event to face off in the Octagon. UFC President Dana White stated the organization?s intent to [...]

As stated before, there are several ways of answering the question ?how successful was the ufc?s latest event?? It should also be pointed out that that?s a question that takes on an entirely different meaning when you?re one of the proud few inside the Octagon. For fighters, success is measured in two chief ways: how [...]

Dana White is confused. With Chael Sonnen facing a possible two-year ban from fighting, the UFC president looked at past penalties handed down by commissions like the one in California and sees some inconsistencies, especially with boxers.

"Let me ask you a question, Floyd Mayweather's been running around town punching everyone in the face and threatening people and doing all this stuff. Watch how fast Floyd Mayweather gets licensed," said White (6:56 mark).

Mayweather's involved in several legal battles. One involves multiple felony counts for an alleged incident with a former girlfriend. A bouncer from Drai's on the Las Vegas strip is also suing Mayweather for alleged altercation, and the former pound-for-pound king is further involved in several legal battles with his community's homeowners association and security guards.

White then turned his attention to the CSAC's action with boxer Antonio Margarito.

"If you look at boxing man, there's been situations where guys have put weapons inside their hands and fought another human being," White said. "There's been instances where people have assaulted other people in the ring."

In his first attempt to regain his license, Margarito was also turned down by the CSAC. He scurried off to Texas and was allowed to fight Manny Pacquiao in the U.S. after 17 months away.

By lashing out at a commission, White knows he's walking on dangerous ground.

"It's a touchy subject for me," White said. "If you're dumb enough to do something to get in trouble, you gotta face the consequences. This guy did some dumb stuff, he manned up and he was punished. Once that sentence is over, it's over man."

White tensed up when asked if Sonnen did this to himself.

"What happened with Chael Sonnen? Chael Sonnen has a big mouth. Chael Sonnen says a lot of dumb [expletive]. When you get to the point where a guy serves his sentence and now you're stopping a guy, his ability to make a living? What happened to Chael Sonnen is insane. It's unjust. It's unfair."

I?ve talked about Bellator for some time now, but with the recent end of their fourth season, I?ll have to wait about a month before I get more Bellator. At UFC 130, Dana White didn't sound very confident that he would be able to put together the much talked about Nick Diaz vs. Georges St-Pierre super-fight. However, on Wednesday afternoon, the UFC president announced the fight was a done deal and would take place at UFC 137 on Oct. 29 in Las Vegas.

MMA Fighting spoke to Cesar Gracie, Diaz's manager and trainer, about how the deal was completed and what this means for Diaz's Strikeforce future.

A transcript of the conversation can be found below.

Ariel Helwani: How did this deal get done?
Cesar Gracie: We just sent the contract yesterday and it arrived in their office today.

Is Nick now a UFC fighter?
You know what? That's an interesting question and they have not told me how they're going to structure that.

So is his Strikeforce belt on the line?
I don't know. I truly don't. They haven't told me if his belt is on the line. I don't think so. This is not like that because if his belt was on the line that would make GSP the Strikeforce champion (if he wins). And then what? He's going to fight someone from Strikeforce? I don't think that's happening. But then again, refer to Dana on that one because I truly don't know.

Did Nick sign a one-fight deal with the UFC or a longer one?
We have a new deal. Multi-fight, multi-year contract with the UFC.

How many fights is the new contract for?
I can tell you it's a multi-fight, multi-year contract. I can't tell you how many fights.

So it sounds like he is a UFC fighter now.
Right, but the contract does give the option to fight in Strikeforce. So what that opens up is the potential for him to also fight in Strikeforce.

Over the weekend, Dana White referred to some issues which were stopping this fight from being made. Do you know how those were resolved?
There was a lot of misinformation -- there were a lot of reports out there that weren't true. Showtime, I don't think was a problem, to be honest with you, at all. They don't have a contract with Nick. Nick's contract is strictly with Explosion [Strikeforce's parent company prior to the Zuffa purchase]. It has never been a contract with Showtime. So the reports you heard were erroneous and false. Other than that, the hurdles were the [Jeff] Lacy thing, stuff like that. I don't know if they were Strikeforce, and if they were, Nick signed a new contract that dissolved his old contract with Strikeforce.

Do you know if Showtime is getting any kind of percentage of the pay-per-view?
No idea.

Any idea why Vegas was chosen as the site of the fight?
There were two venues they were looking at: one was in Canada and one was in Vegas. We didn't know which one it was going to be until today.

Would you have been OK with fighting in Canada?
I did tell them it would be better if we fought in Vegas, obviously, because then the belt wouldn't have very much further to go once Nick gets it (laughs).

Do you think this marks the end of Nick's run in Strikeforce?
Hopefully. If he's back in Strikeforce, I would imagine that's because he lost his next fight.

Quinton "Rampage" Jackson earned the first shot at UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones with his win over Matt Hamill at UFC 130 on Saturday, but a broken hand that the former title-holder secretly carried into the bout could cost him an immediate shot at the belt.

If Jackson's unable to fight Jones in the fall, the title shot could instead go to rival Rashad Evans or Lyoto Machida.

Rampage JacksonA few months ago, when UFC 130 was first scheduled, it looked like a hell of a fight card: Frankie Edgar would take on Gray Maynard in the rematch of their epic lightweight title fight, and Rampage Jackson would take on Thiago Silva in what promised to be a thrilling, hard-hitting co-main event.

What we actually got at UFC 130 was a lot different: Edgar and Maynard both dropped out of the event with injuries, Silva got busted for cheating on a drug test, and we were left with Rampage vs. Matt Hamill as a main event.

What else can be said but that the main event turned into a dud?

Rampage vs. Hamill looked like a bad fight on paper, and it turned out to be a bad fight in the Octagon: Hamill is a swell guy whom UFC fans will always like and respect, but he's just not in the same class as Rampage. It was a one-sided beatdown from start to finish, and a disappointing main event. The first Edgar vs. Maynard fight was the UFC's best main event so far this year. Rampage vs. Hamill was the worst.

And as bad as losing the Edgar-Maynard fight was, losing Silva from what had been scheduled as a co-main event fight with Rampage was big, too. A Silva-Rampage fight would have been guaranteed fireworks. It's not just that Hamill isn't as good as Silva, it's also that he has a very different fighting style than Silva, and a Rampage-Hamill fight is just not as compelling as Rampage-Silva would have been.

And, of course, when you lose a main event, all the other fights have to move up a spot on the card. So when Rampage-Silva as the co-main turned into Rampage-Hamill as the main event, that bumped Frank Mir vs. Roy Nelson into the co-main event spot. So while Edgar-Maynard and Rampage-Silva would have been awesome main and co-main events, what fans got instead were lousy main and co-main events, Rampage-Hamill and Mir-Nelson.

The first three fights on the pay-per-view card were all entertaining, so it's not like the fans who bought the pay-per-view didn't get any value for their money. But they didn't get the value they were hoping for. This was a fight card that once looked great, and instead turned into a disappointment.

Notes from UFC 130
-- According to CompuStrike, Tim Boetsch was successful on nine of 11 takedown attempts against Kendall Grove. Boetsch has always had good striking power, and if he's able to be that effective with takendowns now that he has moved down from light heavyweight to middleweight, he's going to be a force at 185 pounds.

-- Stefan Struve is 5-3 in his UFC career, and at just 23 years old, he has a lot of promise. But I have to say, I'm worried about his future if he doesn't get better at striking defense. All three of his UFC losses have been by first-round knockout: To Junior Dos Santos, to Roy Nelson and now, on Saturday, to Travis Browne.

-- The UFC has started showing fighters' Twitter handles under their names on its on-screen graphics. At a time when other major sports leagues are terrified that athletes will use social media to say something embarrassing, this was yet another indication that the UFC is way ahead of the pack on that front.

Quotes from UFC 130
"You just moved up the ladder here tonight, kid. It's a big, big victory for you. From here on it's nothing but top contenders." -- Joe Rogan to Rick Story. He's right. Story has a big future ahead of him in the welterweight division.

"How many times did I hit him in the face? What's up with that guy's chin?" -- Frank Mir after battering Roy Nelson for 15 minutes. In Nelson's last two fights he has been in the cage for six rounds with Mir and Junior dos Santos, and although he was beaten badly both times, he certainly does have a great chin, as neither man was able to knock Nelson out.

Good call
"This seems to be the difference between a real, true, legitimate heavyweight and a guy who's fighting at heavyweight because he likes food." -- Rogan on Frank Mir vs. Roy Nelson. Rogan was right: Nelson won't be a great fighter until he's willing to take his diet and conditioning seriously, as a professional athlete should.

Bad call
When Jackson and Hamill backed away from each other with about 90 seconds to go in the main event, Mike Goldberg said, "A little respect from both men," as if they were backing away because they like each other. In reality, they were backing away because they were fatigued, and the fans were justified in their booing.

Stock up
Herb Dean showed once again that he's the best referee in the business because he thinks of everything. When the timekeeper gave the 10-second warning at the end of the rounds of the main event, Dean held up 10 fingers to show the deaf Hamill that there were 10 seconds left. Contrast Dean's work with the athletic commission official who interrupted Hamill's corner after the first round of the fight and didn't seem to realize that Hamill is deaf and needed a sign language interpreter.

Stock Down
Thiago Alves is never going to compete at a high level again if he doesn't figure out how to stop a takedown. His loss to Story was the third time in Alves's last four fights that a superior wrestler has been able to control him and win a decision, and as great a striker as Alves is, it's clear that other fighters realize that there's a giant hole in Alves's game.

Final thought
Given the light heavyweight landscape right now and the timing of Jon Jones' return from a hand injury, Rampage Jackson is probably the best choice available to get the next light heavyweight title shot, if Rampage himself is healthy. But as dominant as Jackson was against Hamill, he didn't do anything to indicate he'd have much of a chance of getting the light heavyweight belt back. Rampage can sleepwalk his way through a victory against an opponent like Hamill, but he'd need to fight at a much higher level to have a prayer against Jones.
